Sound of the Future is the first compilation album by the French musical group Rockets,
published in Italy in 1979 by Record Bazaar.
Even though it contains only six songs, this album is very interesting because
collects some songs that were only available on the 12" mixes that had recently been released in stores.
Alongside the "long version" of Future woman (released in Italy both in their first album dated 1977, and in the related 12" mix), we find Atomic control (B-side of the 12" Future woman mix),
Don't be sad and the nine-minute version of Space rock (available only on the 12" mix released in 1977), as well as Fils du ciel and the three-and-a-half-minute "single version" of On the Road Again, available until then only on 45 rpm vinyl and never included on any of their albums.
It was released on low-cost vinyl and cassette, and is still quite sought-after today.
The cover shows the five musicians on stage, at the end of an afternoon concert in the autumn of 1978, wearing costumes from the 1978-79 - early 1980 period.
